Raspberry Smoothie

"Basic smoothie made with healthy ingredients. Choose organic, pesticide-free berries, probiotic yogurt and local honey if possible!"

Ingredients


1 banana (about 6 oz.), peeled and cut into chunks 
1/2 cup vanilla low-fat or nonfat yogurt 
1/2 cup frozen raspberries 

Preparation

In a blender, whirl banana, yogurt, and raspberries until smooth.
Variations: Whirl together these delicious combinations, or mix and match to create your own favorites.
Variation 1: 1 cup vanilla soy milk and 1 cup frozen raspberries, strawberries, or blackberries
Varaiation 2: 1 cup orange juice, 1 cup plain yogurt, 1/3 cup chopped fresh Medjool dates, and 1 tablespoon honey
Variation3: 1 cup chocolate soy milk, 1 banana, and 1 tablespoon peanut butter
Variation 4: 1 cup mango or papaya chunks, 1 cup pineapple juice, and 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
Variation 5: 1/2 cup carrot juice, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/2 cup plain yogurt, 1 banana, and 1 tablespoon honey

Carrot Tomato Smoothie





Here is a wonderful thirst quencher for this hot summer - CARROT TOMATO JUICE. I wanted to try a little spicy version this time to make a difference. It tasted really good. Here we go for the simple juice variety.

Ingredients :

Juicy Ripe Tomatoes - 4 No.s
Carrot - 1(shred them and squeeze the juice)
Chat masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
Lemon juice - 1 Table Spoon
Pepper Powder - 1 Teaspoon
Salt - 1 Teaspoon
Sugar - 1 Table Spoon


Method :

Cut the tomatoes in to quarters and remove the seeds. In a blender add 2 glasses of chilled water, and other ingredients and blend together well. Strain with a not too fine strainer. Stir and serve. Smoothie is ready :-)



Lemon juice, sugar can be adjusted according to one's taste buds.
You can serve with out straining too. Its your preference. If you like to have a thick juice, you need not strain it.

Punjabi Cardamom lassi





Preparation & Cooking Time : 5 mins
Serves: 3 persons
Ingredients:

Fresh Yogurt: 2 cups
Water: 1/2 cup
Sugar: 6 - 7 tsp or as needed 
Cardamom Powder: 1/2 tsp
Cashews and Pistachios for garnish
Ice Cubes 

Method:

1. Take the yogurt, sugar, water and cardamom powder in a blender. 

2. Blend it until smooth and frothy.

3. Pour the lassi into glasses. 

4. Add the crushed ice cubes to it and garnish with finely chopped nuts. 


5. You can also chill the lassi in the refrigerator. 

6. Serve chilled.

Oreo Milkshake


No matter how you put Oreo Cookies and ice cream together, you know it’s going to be good. This cool, creamy, chocolaty treat is case in point.

Ingredients

  • 4 tsp. chocolate syrup
  • 8 OREO Cookies, divided
  • 1 cups milk
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, softened

Instructions

  • Spoon  1 tsp. syrup into each of 4 glasses. Roll each glass to coat bottom and inside of glass. Finely chop 4 cookies; set aside.
  • Quarter  remaining cookies; place in blender. Add milk and ice cream; blend until smooth.
  • Pour  into prepared glasses; top with chopped cookies. Serve immediately.

Kiwi milkshake

Kiwi milkshake? YES, Kiwi milkshake! What a beautiful tangy milkshake it was!
For one glass of this deliciously thick milkshake, you need:
- 1 kiwi fruit
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
-  1 Tbsp of sugar or honey
Method: Blend everything in a blender. Pour into a glass and gobble down like I did :)

Peanut-Butter-Banana Smoothie

Do you love peanut butter so much that you could eat it right out of the jar? Well, then we have a smoothie for you! Peanut butter has tons of good fats your body needs, and the banana packs this smoothie with potassium — so drink up!
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana 1 cup low-fat (or soy!) milk
1/4 cup all-natural peanut butter
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup ice.
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth!

Masala Neer Moor

As the heat started in India, its ideal time to treat ourselves to a glass of cool, comforting  Neer Moor / Buttermilk...!

 It is a great treat in Summer. On road sides, people set up pandals ( Tents ) to supply Neer Moor & Panagam , stored in large earthern pots, to passers by in Tamil Nadu. 

health benefits of buttermilk: Buttermilk is lower in fat than regular milk.
  • It is rich in potassium, vitamin B12, calcium, riboflavin & phosphorous.
  • Very helpful in digestion and helps in weight management.
  • Low in calories & high in nutrients.
  • It cures acidity.
  • Helps develop immunity  &
  • Makes skin & hair healthy and beautiful !

Here goes the simple recipe..!

Ingredients:
  • Curd                             - 1 cup
  • Water                            - 3 cups
  • Hing                             - a pinch
  • Green chilly chopped     - ½ tsp
  • Grated ginger                - ½ tsp
  • Curry & Coriander leaves
  • Salt to taste

  1. In a wide bowl, add curd and water.
  2. Chum / beat well and prepare buttermilk of thin consistency.
  3. Wash green chilly, curry & coriander leaves, wash & peel ginger.
  4. Chop them finely.
  5. Add them to the buttermilk.
  6. Add a pinch of hing and salt.
  7. Stir well.

Neer Moor/ Plain Buttermilk

You will need :-

  • 1 cup mild plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cup sparkling water or plain soda water
  • Salt per taste
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin seeds crushed
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped mint and coriander
  • 1/4 tsp cumin and coriander powder ( dhana jeera powder )

  • Method:-
    Beat plain yogurt and water.
    Add all the masala, salt and herbs. Leave ayside.
    When you are ready to serve take 1/4 beaten yogurt mixture in a glass and add 3/4 sparkling water.
    Add herb ice cubes and serve immediately.

All you need is one cup of vanilla yogurt, ice cubes and one cup of pineapple chunks, blend together and you have yourself a delicious smoothie in seconds!

Mint Ginger Sherbat / Juice


Yoga recommends to eat natural food for a healthy living. But preparing food without heat is a challenge as we are addicted to cooked food. Juices need no heating/cooking. It is better to take fresh juices.
When I attended yoga class few years back, they taught me so many dishes that need no cooking on fire. In the last day of the class, a feast was organized with natural foods. It was so tasty and healthy. I would like to share Mint Coriander Leaves (Pudina Dhania) Juice which I tasted there.
Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • Fresh mint leaves – handful
  • Coriander leaves – handful
  • Ginger – small piece
  • Cardamom – 3 to 4 no
  • Jaggery chopped – 2 table spoon (adjust as per taste)
  • Lemon juice – few drops

Method

  • Add jaggery in 1½ cups of water and keep it for 5 minutes; dissolve it and filter it to remove impurities if any.
  • Mint Ginger Sherbat / Juice

  • In a mixer add mint leaves, coriander leaves, chopped ginger, cardamom and jaggery water.
  • Blend it well and filter it.
  • Creamy mint flavored juice is ready. Can be chilled and served.
Tips
  • Instead of jaggery, honey also can be used.

Ingredients :
  • Chopped Pear : 1 cup
  • Boiled & Cooled Milk : 1 cup
  • Cardamom pods : 3
  • Sugar to taste
  • Ice Cubes
 Method :
First grind the chopped pear, sugar and cardamom seeds in a blender to a smooth paste. Then add the milk and blend again until smooth. Add more milk if you want a thinner consistency. Now add the ice cubes and blend for a few seconds and serve chilled.

This recipe is ideal for anyone, especially for those trying to lose weight because cucumbers have a very low amount of calories but high in Potassium, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, chlorophyll, and Folate (suitable for pregnant women)

  • 1 large cucumber, peel the skin.

  2. Pour into a glass then squeeze with lemon juice.
  3. Drink immediately

Easy Recipe Tips: Cucumbers are used would be great if buy organic cucumber. If the cucumbers are are organic, so no need to peel the skin.
One glass of cucumber juice containing 1.2 mg iron, 26 mg calcium, phosphorus 28 mg, 6 mg sodium, 168 mg potassium, 260 IU vitamin A, vitamin C 12 mg, 13 mg of magnesium, a vitamin B complex, boron and chlorine .

Ingredients
10 organic lemons
2.5l water
250g - 300g  sugar (or to taste)


1. Peel the lemons with a potato peeler, leaving behind as much of the white pith as possible.

2. Put the peels into a large pot and add the water. Bring to the boil.

3. Put the juice of the lemons and the sugar into a large heatproof container and stir to combine. Pour the boiling water on to the lemon juice and sugar and stir until it is dissolved.

4. Strain out the lemon peel. Cool and serve chilled with lots of ice.

Orange dream

Basically, this is a pure orange smoothie — lots of oranges (you can use pretty much whatever kinds you love), no dairy (milk, yogurt, etc.), and a special extra kick of ginger! Oh my goodness. If you don’t usually put ginger in your smoothies, you must give it a try. Definitely one of my favorite little additions, and it’s healthy too!
So cheers to orange smoothies of all kinds!

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges, peeled
  • 2 mandarin oranges, peeled (or 1 small can of mandarin oranges, drained)
  • 1/2 cup orange juice (or any juice)
  • 1/2 cup ice
  • 1/2 tsp. grated fresh ginger

Method

Combine all ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth and well-combined.
 Tip:
To make this creamier, feel free to sub in milk or yogurt for the orange juice.

An Amazing Cantaloupe Smoothie Recipe

So today I added one more to this list, a protein packed cantaloupe smoothie recipe!  Oh my gosh guys, this one is a HOME RUN!!  
I had this the other morning and this smoothie carried me all the way to lunch!  I had so much energy, I just didn’t know what to do with myself!

So, what sparked the carrot smoothie idea ? Simply put, I had carrots in my fridge, didn’t have bananas or any other soft fruit to throw into my liquid breakfast, and figured I have a super powerful blender, why wouldn’t it whip carrots into a delightful beverage? And guess what, it totally does!
Care for a slice of cake for breakfast? or a healthy smoothie? I think this might be my dream come true.

  • Stevia powder to taste

  1. Add all ingredients to a high powered blender in the order listed. Blend on low for 1 minute, then turn to high for another minute, or until completely smooth.
  2. Pour into a glass, garnish with shredded carrots or a sprinkle of cinnamon, and serve.

Ingredients

Apple - 1
Milk - 1 and half cup
Sugar - 4 tsp (adjust as per your taste)
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Nutmeg powder - 1/8 tsp

Procedure


  • Peel the apple and cut into small pieces. Add chopped apple, milk, and sugar in a blender. Blend till mixture turns frothy.
  • Add in cardamom powder and nutmeg powder. Mix well and keep in a refrigerator at least for half hour. Sprinkle some cardamom powder on top and serve chilled.

  • Flesh of two mangoes
  • ½ cup natural yoghurt
  • 1cup milk kefir or organic, unhomogenised full cream milk
  • 2cm piece of ginger, peeled
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to the bowl of a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Serve in two tall glasses and drink immediately.
