Manga Pachadi
1 Raw Mango,Pealed
2 dry Red Chillies
1/3 cup Jaggery, crushed
1/2 tsp Oil
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/3 tsp Mustard seeds
Salt, to taste
1/4 cup Water
Method:

Method:
- Peal the skin and just cut the mangoes ,don’t worry about the uneven size.Add it into the cooker.Add in water and turmeric powder and simply pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles.
- Once done, add in the sugar or jaggery and mix well.Let it cook for a while or till it become thick. Once done temper it separately and mix it with the Mango Pachadi,switch off the stove.
- If making this for “Tamil New Year” day, then temper the neem flowers in ghee until golden brown and add it to the pachadi.

Am a great fan of this mavidikaya pappu. .I remember ma childhood days, where amma used to do it on fridays and to offer god with padaiyal and she will do pooja. . She will have a big book of slogas and will start reading. It lasts atleast for 40minutes. . Ma stomach will make crumbling sounds to taste the items in Padyal. .Once amma finishes, its was me to grab a vada n eat it with pappu. .ma god!!!! that will be awesome :)
Ingredients:
- Toor dal or kandipappu-1 1/2cup
- Onion-2
- Greenchillies-3 or 4 (slit into 2 halves)
- Mango-1 (peeled and sliced into big peices)
- Tamrind-1/4 lemon sliced
For popu or tadka:
- Avalu or rai-1tspn
- Curry leaves-1tspn
- Garlic-3 or 4 slices diced
- Tumeric powder-1pinch
- Chana dal-1/2 tspn
- Red chilli-1 or 2 (Adjust accordingly)
- Salt-2tspn(adjust accordingly)
- Red chilli powder-1 tspn
- corainder leaves(washed and sliced)
Preparation:
- Wash the dal and add the dal to a container.
- Add the sliced onions,green chillies,mango,tamrind.
- Pressure cook it till 4 or 5 vissils.
- Remove from cooker.keep aside all the sliced peices(like onion,mango).
- Now mash the dal add salt,tumeric and red chilli powder.
- Then add the sliced peices in the dal.
- Add oil in kadai,first add red chillies,garlic,then add rai and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Now add chana dal and the add curry leaves.
- Now add the dal into the kadai let it cook for another 5 mins and switch off the stove.
- Now add coriander leaves for garnishing.

Mango Rice is an Andhra specialty. I ate this rice for the first time at a friend’s house at Hyderabad during Ugadi which is the Telugu New Year,when i was 5. This rice made of unripe mangoes and rice is made and served during the festival. This raw mango rice is also known as Maamidikaya Pulihora.
