Onion Pakora

It’s amazing how we inherit recipes through family. My Mother inherited this recipe from my granny. Onion pakoras or onion fritters is a popular Indian street food. It is one snack that is easy to prepare and tastes good too. In India pakoras are usually served with some fried salted green chilies and a green chutney or sweet chutney. this whole combo is also served with the Indian chai.

Onion Pakora



Ingredients

  • Onions ½ kg (finely sliced)
  • Gram flour 2 cup
  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Fresh coriander 1 cup (finely chopped)
  • Green chili as required (finely chopped or ground)
  • Curry leaves 1 (finely chopped)

Cooking Directions

  1. Crush the onions with your hand, without adding water.
  2. Now add all the ingredients without adding water.
  3. Mix it nicely to make like rough crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet, when the oils hot, drop the mixture in hot oil fry till golden.ni
  5. Serve with ketchup right away, and enjoy.
 Ketchup Chutney: Mix everything together
½ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon water
½ tablespoon chaat masala
½ teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon salt
